NFPA 90-A
NFPA 90 A is a standard written by the National Fire Protection Agency regarding the fire and smoke emissions of materials. The title of this Standard is “Standard for the Installation of Air-Conditioning and Ventilating Systems”. These material guidelines may be adopted into local building codes. Individual companies may also desire to incorporate these guidelines into their requirements as well.Touchstone T-84 and V-4138 are used when materials meeting and surpassing NFPA 90A are desired to be used.
Under NFPA 90A, materials must have a flame spread index of 25 or below as measured by NFPA 255 (ASTM E-84).
Both T-84 and Pancrete V-4138 meet and exceed NFPA 90A guidelines, and have a flame spread index of less than 20. NFPA 90A also requires a smoke index of less than 50. Both Pancrete T-84 and Pancrete V-4138 are also ASTM certified as meeting and exceeding the smoke spread requirements of NFPA 90A.
